Are there any times a dog should NOT have massage? Yes, there are. When dogs have: 1) Acute inflammation 2) Recent injury to bones or joints 3) An acute sprain 4) Thrombosis (blood clot) 5) Broken bones or open wounds 6) Infectious disease with fever 7) Shock or heat stroke 8) Extreme agitation (cries when touched) 9) A vertebral disc rupture or 4-6 weeks post-laminectomy The best thing to do is, when in doubt, talk to your veterinarian and ask if massage is appropriate for your dog’s condition.
How long does a session last? All sessions are different. A session can last anywhere between 5-60 minutes, depending on the dog and the day. My strategy is to let them settle, and then start working. They will let me know when it is time to stop. Dogs can tell you a lot if you listen to them!
How much do you charge? $1 a minute. And, if I go to your house, there is a minimal travel charge of $5 or $10.
Do you take checks? Yes, I accept cash, checks, visa, mastercard and discover.
